Daniel Schmutzhard


Daniel Schmutzhard is a leading Austrian baritone. He performs at the Bayreuth Festival, the Salzburg Festival, the Theater an der Wien, the Staatsoper Berlin, the Oper Frankfurt, the Opéra de Paris, the Bregenz Festival, the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Vlaamse Opera and the Wiener Volksoper.

His repertoire includes roles such as Wolfram, Heerrufer, Kothner, Donner, Olivier, Eisenstein, Danilo, Onegin, Posa, Don Giovanni, Conte, Guglielmo, Papageno, Marcello, Sharpless, Albert, Escamillo, and others.

He has worked with orchestras including the Orchestre de Chambre Paris, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Orchestre National de Lille, under the batons of Kirill Petrenko, Philippe Jordan, Bertrand de Billy, Sebastian Weigle, Simone Young, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle, Franz Welser-Möst, René Jacobs and Ulf Schirmer.

Schmutzhard has performed concerts and recitals at the Wiener Musikverein and Konzerthaus, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Philharmonie Dresden, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and the Salzburger Osterfestspiele.
