Robert Pechanec


Robert Pechanec was born in Slovakia in 1973 and studied piano at the State Conservatory of his hometown Žilina. He continued his education at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava. Robert Pechanec took part in master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender and Wolfram Rieger. He was especially successful as a piano accompanist. With various singers he won prizes at numerous competitions, among others at the International Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský Singing Competition, at the Belvedere Singing Competition, at the International Antonín Singing Competition Dvořák (where he was awarded three times as best piano accompanist), as well as at the International Lucia Popp Singing Competition in Bratislava. As a song accompanist he regularly works with Pavol Breslik (recitals at the Berlin State Opera, the Theatre La Monnaie Brussels, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, New York and the Opera National du Rhin-Strasbourg), Adriana Kučerová (recitals at the Toulouse d'Ete, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Grand Salon des Invalides Paris) and Štefan Kocán (recitals at the Prague Spring Festival and the Palais du Luxembourg Paris). He has given concerts in Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, USA, Australia, Cambodia, Poland and Belgium. As repetitor and musical director, as well as accompanist for soloists (Brandon Jovanovich, Daniela Bruera, Tatiana Monogarova, Markus Werba, Ekaterina Gubanova) he participated in various productions at the Wexford Festival Opera (Ireland) from 2000 to 2004. Since 1999 Robert Pechanec has been teaching at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava. This is the third project in cooperation with Pavol Breslik. In 2014 a CD with songs by Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský and 2017 with songs by Antonín Dvořák were released.
