Carlos Chausson


Spanish baritone Carlos Chausson was born in Zaragoza. He studied his musical studies at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid and then moved to the USA where he got a Master of Music degree at University of Michigan.

Carlos Chausson is an incomparable artist in buffo Italian rôles and Mozart rôles. He has been guest artist at the Zurich Opera house for the last twelve consecutive seasons where he has sung his whole repertoire under important conductors such as Nikolas Harnoncourt and Nello Santi. He has also sung at the most important opera houses over the world, including La Scala in Milan, The Metropolitan in New York, La Bastille in Paris, Munich Staatsoper, Teatro Liceu and Teatro Real de Madrid, under such conductors as Abbado, Lopez Cobos, Benini, Palumbo and Fischer. Carlos Chausson has shared the stage with such artists as Plácido Domingo, Monserrat Caballe, Jeniffer Larmore, Ileana Cotrubas, Beverly Shills, Ruggero Raimondi and Carlos Alvarez.

He has made a large number of recordings and DVDs, and has been honoured as “Mejor artista Lírico” in the 2007 season awarded by Fundación de Premios Líricos del Teatro Campoamor 2008.
