Brigitte Geller

The Swiss soprano Brigitte Geller studied flute and singing at the Basel Musikhochschule, and won success in a number of singing competitions, including the Miriam Helin Competition. She appeared at opera-houses in Zurich and Heidelberg before an engagement with the Komische Oper in Berlin, where, since the 1998–99 season, she has undertaken a number of important lyric soprano rôles as a permanent member of the company. These include Ännchen in Der Freischütz, Gilda in Rigoletto and the important rôle of Asteria in Handel’s Tamerlano. In the concert hall she has also made a name for herself, collaborating with leading conductors, including John Eliot Gardiner in his recent recording of the complete cantatas of Bach, and with major orchestras and festivals. Her recordings include a release of Handel’s Aci e Galatea.
