Wolfgang Probst


Wolfgang Probst studied singing in his native city of Munich and since 1971 has been a member of the Stuttgart Opera where he has appeared in the title rôle of Der fliegende Holländer, as King Heinrich, Klingsor, Orest, Jochanaan in Salome, Duke Bluebeard and Boris Ismailov in Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, as well as in the rôles of Hans Sachs, Schigolch in Lulu, Kaspar in Der Freischütz, Antonio in Giuseppe e Sylvia and a Torturer in Nono’s Intolleranza 1960. Other rôles include those of the Direttore in Donizetti’s Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, Frank in I pazzi per progetto, Paolo Orsini in Rienzi and Don Pizarro in Fidelio. He also appeared as Kecal in The Bartered Bride, Duke Adorno in Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten, a theologian in Doktor Faust, as the Herald in Alceste and Uncle Bonze in Madama Butterfly. Other engagements have included the Salzburg Festival and appearances at the Berlin Deutsche Oper, in Munich, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt, Dallas, Buenos Aires, Stockholm, Paris, Basel, Zürich, Bologna, Venice and Naples.
