Stella Doufexis

The German-Greek mezzo-soprano Stella Doufexis was one of the most sought-after singers in her field, both on the operatic stage and on the concert podium. She gave guest performances worldwide, and worked with conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Semyon Bychkov, Kent Nagano, Kurt Masur, Roger Norrington, Christopher Hogwood, Ingo Metzmacher, Ivor Bolton, Helmuth Rilling, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Christoph Eschenbach and Gustavo Dudamel to name just a few. She had a special relationship with the Berliner Philharmoniker with whom she performed regularly.

Her wide variety of repertoire from Baroque to contemporary works made her a most welcome guest at various festivals and opera houses. She regularly appeared at venues in Salzburg, Vienna, London, Athens, Barcelona, Munich, Berlin and Brussels among many others. Doufexis was trained by Ingrid Figur and Anna Reynolds, and was deeply influenced by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann.
